About Shake Shack
Shake Shack is an American fast-casual restaurant chain which is based in New York City. Shake Shack was started as a hot dog cart inside Madison Square Park in 2001. The popularity grew steadily and in 2004 it moved to a stand within the park and expanded its menu.
Shake Shack Inc. owns and operates more than 249 locations both domestically and internationally.
History of Shake Shack
Danny Meyer opened the first Shake Shack in July 2004. The restaurant was not designed to be a chain but popularity and sales continue to grow and the group realized that there is a market for expansion.
In 2010, Shake Shack opened its first restaurant outside New York City at the Lincoln Road Mall in Miami Beach’s South Beach neighborhood. On July 12, 2010, the restaurants were opened in the Theater District and the Upper East Side.
Shake Shack opened the location in the lower level of Grand Central Terminal in May 2013 after long waiting as the location was occupied by Mexican eatery Zócalo. The same year they opened its first airport location in JFK’s newly expanded Terminal 4.
To date Shake Shack is expanding at a rapid rate.
