History of Texas Roadhouse
Texas Roadhouse as founded on 17th February 1993 at the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville, Indiana. Founder of Texas Roadhouse W. Kent Taylor worked as a Kentucky Fried Chicken manager and had dreams to open a Colorado-themed restaurant.
John Y. Brown, Jr. former Kentucky Governor helped Taylor fulfill his dream by backing him with $80,000. Taylor opened Buckhead Hickory Grill in 1991 which eventually become Buckhead Mountain Grill. Brown wanted to open a second store in Clarksville and invested more money into the restaurant but complications in the partnership caused it to fall apart.
In 1993, the first Texas Roadhouse in Clarksville, Indiana opened. In the late 1990s, the chain expanded rapidly and 67 restaurants had been opened by the end of 1999.
Texas Roadhouse became a public company in 2004. The first international location was opened in Dubai, UAE.
